Stamford Public Schools Announces New Location and Name for All Alternative Education Programs

Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that all SPS alternative education programs (RISE, LEAP and the new SPS middle school program) will be located at 68 Southfield Avenue for the 2019-2020 school year. Additionally, instead of ARTS, the collective name for all SPS alternative education programs will be SPS Anchor.

Stamford Public Schools Named Robert Stacy as Executive Director Human Resources and Talent Development

Stamford Public Schools (SPS) Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero and the Stamford Board of Education (BOE) named Robert A. Stacy as Executive Director of Human Resources and Talent Development, at a Special Board Meeting, held Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Stacy brings more than 30 years’ experience in school district, corporate and U.S. Army Human Resources. He will join SPS in mid-September.

SHU changes business school name to Jack Welch College of Business & Technology

Sacred Heart University is changing the name of its Jack Welch College of Business to recognize the critical synergy between business learning and technology. It is now called the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) reflecting the integration of these two critical fields of study and their collaborative roles in today’s marketplace as well as Jack Welch’s long career leading a business focused on technology.

AITE Students Anna Lichtenberg and Kevin Fleischer Worked with NASA on Infrared Astronomy Research this Summer

While many high school students study astronomy, only a select few actually get to do astronomy. Academy of Information Technology and Engineering (AITE) Students Anna Lichtenberg and Kevin Fleischer were among the 13 selected NASA-sponsored high school students who participated in astronomical research at Caltech this summer. Along with AITE Teacher Vin Urbanowski, these students not only had hands-on experience, but they will also have the opportunity to present their results at the American Astronomical Society (AAS) annual winter conference in Hawaii this coming January.

Stamford Public Schools Released 2017-2018 Annual Report to the Community

Stamford Public Schools (SPS) released its 2017-2018 Annual Report to the Community, which is now available on the SPS district website and soon will be in mailboxes of homes and businesses across the city. The report is being distributed along with 8,000 copies of Stamford Plus magazine’s summer edition, which features a cover story interview with Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero.

UCONN Stamford Students Create SPS Promotional Video

Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced the launch of its new promotional video designed to build public awareness about the district’s mission to foster productive habits of mind, body and heart in every student. SPS and students from the UCONN Stamford Digital Media & Design Department (DMD) worked together to create a video showcasing students, activities and opportunities offered by the district. Produced by UCONN DMD juniors and seniors through the university’s in-house, pro-bono creative agency, Beachball, the SPS video features vibrant photographs, carefully selected action words and creative design elements.
