BOE Takes First of Two Votes Needed to Approve the New Mission and Vision for Stamford Public Schools

As part of Stamford Public Schools (SPS) ongoing long-term visioning and strategic planning process, which it has been conducting in partnership with Cambridge Education over the past year, the Board of Education (BOE) took the first step in approving a new Mission and Vision for the district. At the October regular meeting, the BOE took the first of two necessary votes to pass the following new policies. The BOE voted (8:0:0) to approve BOE Policy #0000:

Stepping Stones Preschool Earns Prestigious NAEYC Accreditation

Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk is jumping to the head of the class with a major achievement. Its innovative Early Language and Literacy Initiative (ELLI) program at the museum and in the Norwalk Public School system have received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)—the world's largest organization working on behalf of young children. All four sites received extremely high marks – over 100%!

Stamford Public Schools Announced Three Students as Semi-Finalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program

Stamford Public Schools announced that three Westhill High School (WHS) students have been named as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Westhill High School Seniors Sarthak Behl, Bailey Paulk and Erica Shaulson are among the top 16,000 students nationwide who earned the honor of semifinalist.

Westonite and Common Application Consultant, Liz Waltzman, will be a featured essay expert at Westport Library’s “Countdown to College Expo” on September 16th. The event will take place from 9:30-4:00 pm, includes workshops, essay and application review appointments, practice standardized tests, a luncheon and several speakers. Guests need to register online for lunch, appointments and practice tests at Waltzman, of Write Ahead College Essays, will meet with registered students, for 15-minute sessions, between 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. The Library is located at 20 Jesup Road, Westport and the event is free and open to the public.
