The Martha Graham Dance Company presents “Essential Graham, The Classic Works of Martha Graham”

Martha Graham’s impact on dance was staggering and often compared to that of Picasso’s on painting, Stravinsky’s on music, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s on architecture. Her contributions transformed the art form, revitalizing and expanding dance around the world. In her search to express herself freely and honestly, she created the Martha Graham Dance Company, one of the oldest dance troupes in America.

Award-winning artists The Neville Brothers and Dr. John & his band The Lower 911 are live in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse in a special Valentine’s Day event. The price of admission includes champagne, cuisine from area restaurants, a giant chocolate fountain and Mardi Gras beads! There will also be raffle tickets available to win “A Year of Beauty” at Adam Broderick Salon & Spa or a BMW for a weekend courtesy of BMW of Bridgeport and BMW of Ridgefield plus other items, all starting at 6:30 p.m.

A live, on-stage musical, “The Little Mermaid”, will delight the whole family

A grand-scale Broadway-style production of “The Little Mermaid”, based on the beloved Hans Christian Anderson story, will be at The Ridgefield Playhouse for two performances, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., on Saturday, February 27. The musical is a production of American Family Theatre, Inc., the nation’s premier producer of musicals for families and young audiences.

Nashville singer/songwriter Phil Vassar and special guest Billy Simons are at The Ridgefield Playhouse
The Ridgefield Playhouse will present contemporary country singer-piano man Phil Vassar in concert on Friday, February 12 at 8 p.m. Phil Vassar has Charted 13 Top 20 singles including three Number Ones and three Top Fives. Creative team announced for Curtain Call

The creative team has been announced for the Musical Mondays at Curtain Call presentation of the 2010 American Harmony Prize winning new musical “Buddy’s Tavern.” The concert reading will be directed by Brett A. Bernardini and music direction will be by Bradley Vieth. The performers will include Michael Iannucci in the title role. “Buddy’s Tavern” was written by Raymond DeFelitta (Book), Alison Louise Hubbard (Lyrics) and Kim Oler (Music). The musical is based on DeFelitta’s 2000 independent film “Two Family House.”

Norwalk Symphony Orchestra to spearhead food drive in Fairfield County
Community outreach is taking on a new meaning for The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra as it joins orchestras across the nation in a food drive that will benefit food banks in each locale. Last year was the first ever national effort of this kind to be undertaken by orchestras and of the over 250 symphonies participating, from all of the 50 states, the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra raised the twelfth greatest amount of food. Black Taxi returns to Rack N Roll

On Friday, February 12th Brooklyn-based band BLACK TAXI returns to Rack N Roll, bringing their high-energy live act to Stamford for their first 2010 appearance in Connecticut. The music begins at 9:30pm and the concert is free. Dance-Punk, Big-Wave and twisted Dive-Rock dominate the foursome’s Grit Pop sound.
