Auditions for The Who's Tommy at Curtain Call begin 10/30

In May 1969, just as America was getting ready to put a man on the moon, "across the pond" in England, the classic rock band, The Who, released the album that would decades later become the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, The Who's Tommy! Stamford will have it's first production of this hit musical in February 2017, in Curtain Call's Kweskin Theatre.

Retired Stamford Firefighter Putting out different kinds of fires for Community

Putting out fires for 32 years is what Stamford resident, Tom Hadden did for his community. (His father had done the same for many years as well.) And now, in retirement, Tom continues to put out fires of a different kind while volunteering for the area's busiest nonprofit theatre organization - Curtain Call. On Sunday, October 23, Hadden was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year by the organization. With a crowd of early 100 in attendance, Hadden was noticeably moved and incredibly humbled by this recognition.

Casting women in male roles is nothing new...cross-gender casting goes back to the earliest days of known drama. Even so, when Curtain Call's executive director and artistic head decided to produce David Mamet's testosterone-driven classic, Glengarry Glenn Ross with all females, he knew heads would turn and tongues would wag. This distaff version of the 1984 Pulitzer Prize winner will play in Curtain Call's Dressing Room Theatre in Stamford, from October 20 through November 6.

Stepping Stones Museum for Children to Host 13th Annual Golf Tournament at Greenwich's Stanwich Club on Oct. 6
It will be day of putts, pars and pitching in to put smiles on the faces of children when golf enthusiasts and supporters of Stepping Stones Museum for Children convene at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich on Thursday, October 6 to celebrate a special milestone. This year marks the thirteenth anniversary of the museum’s Swing Into It! Golf Tournament. In its twelve year history, Swing Into It! has raised more than $1.2 million. Proceeds from the golf event benefit Open Arms, an initiative to ensure that the museum’s educational exhibits and programs are accessible to underserved communities in the region.

Paul Reiser Headlines the Ridgefield Playhouse 10/22
The Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, CT is proud to present the legendary Paul Reiser Saturday, October 22nd. A seasoned comedian, actor, writer and producer, Paul Reiser continues to add to his list of accomplishments. He co-created and starred in the critically acclaimed NBC series “Mad About You” which garnered him multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, American Comedy Award and Screen Actors Guild nominations. The series is now available in its entirety on DVD. Reiser returned to television in the FX series “Married” and can now be seen on the Amazon series “Red Oaks.” The coming-of-age comedy is set in the "go-go" 80’s and follows a college student enjoying a last hurrah before summer comes to an end and the future begins. Paul plays the club president of Red Oaks, Getty. The second season will premiere on Amazon November 11th.

SyFy Investigators Have Ghostly Encounter at Nathan Hale Homestead
Spirits made their presence known with flickering lights, disembodied voices and knocking sounds throughout a public paranormal investigation at the Nathan Hale Homestead on August 6th in Coventry. Connecticut Landmarks and Seaside Shadows Haunted History Tours hosted the evening with John Zaffis, best known as “The Haunted Collector” on the SyFy and Destination America channels, to determine which items may be causing the frequent ghostly sightings at the Homestead.
