    Perceptual Paradox

“Perceptual Paradox” is a series of black and white, geometrically inspired graphite and charcoal drawings, which explores how we perceive visual information. Drawings can be stagnant snapshots but we rarely experience visual information as stationary. We move or the scene changes which alters the experience. Drawing also gives us the opportunity to distort our perception, which makes us question reality, creating a paradox of perception and possibly creating new opportunities.

Lynda James Carroll has been a member of the Loft Artists for over 10 years and is a past president of the organization. She has been an art teacher at Greenwich High School for the past 13 years, where she continues to teach Drawing and Photography. She has taught classes at Parsons School of Design and worked as the Associate Curator of Education at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, where she remains on the Teachers Advisory Council. She has exhibited extensively in group and single person shows in the New York Metro area and her work is in many private collections from Connecticut to Arizona and Australia.

The Loft Artists Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to building connections within Fairfield County’s visual arts community and exposing the general public to artists and their work.  Their grassroots events attract thousands of visitors throughout the tri-state area and have been recognized by funding agencies, including the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, corporate and private sponsors, the City of Stamford and by visitors who return year after year.
