Silvermine Guild Arts Center, located in New Canaan, will present “Art a la Carte,” informal art discussions to be led by Gallery Director, Jeffrey Mueller beginning on Friday, March 13th at 6:30pm. These once a month gatherings will be a forum to discuss the current works on exhibit at the Silvermine Galleries and to explore the works connection to art history and contemporary art. Participants will receive a 15% discount coupon to enjoy dinner at the Silvermine Market after the talks.
On March 13th, Mr. Mueller will discuss the connection between the current exhibits, “Selected Works” by collaborative photographers Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison and the juried Guild Group Show “Elsewhere” whose works were juried by the ParkeHarrisons. Jeffrey Mueller received his BA in Art History from the University at Albany, and has a BFA in Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MA, Art History from SUNY Purchase College where he received the Dr. Noel and Richard B. Frackman fellowship.
Through discussions and debate, Mueller will explain how the ParkeHarrison’s collaborate in creating their artistic photographs, how the viewer might look at their work and interpret the images, as well as the historical references and connection with contemporary issues. Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison recently had their New York City premier exhibit at the Jack Shainman Gallery, and made their Connecticut debut with their exhibit at the Silvermine Galleries.
“Elsewhere” a guild group show juried by the ParkeHarrisons presents diverse ideas and works in all mediums by Silvermine Guild Artists. Of the 120 works submitted, 27 were selected for the exhibition. Jeff will discuss what a guild group show is, what does the title, “Elsewhere” mean and how does a show of this type come together. Through discussions and the exchange of ideas with several of the exhibiting artists, Mr. Mueller will lead a dialogue about their works, providing the artists background information including the process in creating the work, making sense of the meaning and the works connection to the exhibition title.
A discount will be offered to participants for dinner following the talks at the Silvermine Market, located directly across the street. The Silvermine Market offers dinner entrees and evening specials in an intimate setting, as well as freshly made desserts. Guests are invited to bring their own wine.
