The Westville Village arts scene in New Haven is blossoming this time of year, despite the chilly climate, economically that is. Newly formed Hungry Eye Cooperative Gallery continues to grow as they accept artist members to join. "Retail space is not hard to find these days, but difficult to afford on your own.", says gallery director Jennifer Jane. "Why not group together to cover expenses and business hours while securing a wonderfully visible space to create and sell your art.". Cooperative member and stained glass artist Jaime Kriksciun is also taking advantage of exhibiting opportunities in juried shows like the one opening at The John Slade Ely House, "New Haven Paint & Clay Club 108th Annual Juried Art Exhibition of work by artists from New England and New York", beginning March 15th.
"The Art of Photography" at Jennifer Jane Gallery exhibits the photographic art of twelve artists. Including the work of established, local photographer Robert Lisak from his visit to the colonial Inca town of Andahuaylillas, near Cuzco, Peru in 2008. Additional photographs from Lisak's visit to this remote village will be on display at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music in New Haven in the exhibition, The Flowering Cross: Holy Week in an Andean Village, beginning March 30th.
Jennifer Jane Gallery is now accepting submissions for membership in its Photographic Society.
