The Avon Theatre Film Center, Saks Fifth Avenue at Stamford Town Center, and Stamford Downtown Special Services District are pleased to collaborate with the talented contemporary artist, Fernando Luis Alvarez, on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 5:30 – 8:30PM for a very special Valentine’s Day celebration of his indulgent lips on canvas. The party will be at his new gallery, the Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery located at 96 Bedford Street in downtown Stamford.

The Luscious Lips event is open to the public, but space is limited. Reservations are suggested and can be made at: chanelsaksavon@fernandoluisalvarez.com.

Complimentary prize tickets can be picked-up at Saks Fifth Avenue at the Stamford Town Center and at the Avon Theatre until Wednesday, February 10th at 5:00PM.

In celebration of love, passion and Valentine’s Day, Fernando has teamed up with Saks Fifth Avenue, Stamford Downtown and the Avon Theatre to highlight the importance of local businesses working together to bring patrons to downtown Stamford to celebrate the arts. During the event, Saks Fifth Avenue will provide make up artists and beauty products to create gorgeous lips on willing patrons while Fernando paints his iconic lips on canvas. Throughout the evening, Fernando will also hand out limited signed cards of original artwork featuring his lips. These valuable works of art will, no doubt, be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a gift to your special love.

“Saks Fifth Avenue is committed to supporting local community events and is especially excited about this partnership with the Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery” says Susan Gorman, manager of Saks at the Stamford Town Center.

Collector Judyth Kallman who first discovered Fernando believes his lip creations are “certainly the best art, corporate pairing work since Warhol’s Campbell Soup cans…Fernando has found a magic kingdom in lips that no other artist (or for that matter) human beings have interpreted before. He guides us to see them from a different angle by showing us their power, indulgence, exuberance and the reading of their transparency, leaving them in our minds way after we are gone.”

Louisa Greene, Director of Marketing for the Avon Theatre, located just one block from Fernando’s gallery, says “All of us at the Avon are thrilled to welcome Fernando Luis Alvarez and his gallery’s fleet of contemporary artists to Bedford Street. Fernando has brought new energy to the neighborhood which is already having a positive impact on the local business community.”

The Avon Theatre, a historic non-profit member supported cinema, will be kicking off their annual pre-Oscar Film Festival the following morning, Saturday, February 13. All guests at the Luscious Lips celebration will receive a ticket to attend one of the Oscar-nominated film festival screenings, which will be every Saturday and Sunday morning at 11:00AM from February 13 thru March 7.
