Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan will present its spring Artisan’s Trunk Show on Sunday, March 30th, 12-5pm. This exceptional trunk show will feature four jewelry designers, a stationer, and a specialty bakery. The artists featured are Daneen Ann Augello, Sarah Healy, Daniel Lay, Mary Newcomb, gingerbitz, a specialty bakery in New Canaan, Connecticut, and Peaceable Hill Paperie. Come and find the perfect gift for Easter or Mother’s Day!

Daneen Ann Augello creates glass jewelry pieces in her New York studio. Her jewelry line, daa glass, features handmade, unique lampwork pieces. Characterized by lush color combinations and whimsical designs, Augello creates alluring and captivating jewelry for women of all ages. The signature look of daa glass features precious metals mixed into the molten glass, giving the glass a beautiful and striking design. Precious and semi-precious stones and beads are added to the chains to give the jewelry a finished and unique look.

Sarah Healy is inspired by the multi-culturalism of New York City and the spirit and rebelliousness of Rock & Roll culture from the 60s and 70s. Fusing icons and beliefs of one culture to another, Healy creates a variety of symbolic and timeless pieces that speak to all people. Sarah Healy Design places emphasis on producing eco-conscious and sustainable pieces, with locally and ethically sourced gemstones, and castings and molds made in the United States to support local merchants. Healy enjoys making meaningful pieces that create a profound connection between the piece and the person who wears it.

Daniel Lay is self taught in metal smithing and fabrication. He uses sterling silver to set gemstones, fossils, and shells. Lay prefers elemental, simple designs to emphasize the natural beauty of the materials. Each unique piece is incised with Lay’s initials, place of manufacture, and date.

Mary Newcomb is an award winning visual artist and jewelry designer. She began making jewelry in 1988, and finds jewelry design to be a highly creative art form. She derives inspiration from her travels and enjoys finding and re-combining vintage components with modern findings. Her designs have been seen on Katie Couric, Samantha Harris of “Dancing with the Stars,” E! Entertainment Television and on-air talent from VH-1 and CBS Television. Her designs have also been featured in publications such as Bazaar, Teen People, American Spa, Yogi Times and The Dallas Morning News.

gingerbitz was started by Karen Zuckert, a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago who found her passion for baking while managing an art gallery in New York City. Her gingerbread creations are praised for their exquisite appearance and their uniquely delicious flavor. She remains uniquely known for her superb gingerbread creations. Karen also prepares a wide array of fine baked goods, and is retained to cater teas and special occasions. This Trunk Show is Karen’s final premiere before launching her own bakery on Elm Street in New Canaan, Connecticut. Karen will be offering coupons to those who visit her at Silvermine.

Peaceable Hill Paperie is a maker of fine stationary. The products are made using classic and whimsical watercolor designs which are reproduced on heavy, high quality ivory linen stock. Cards are hand tied with color coordinated grosgrain ribbon.

The Artisan’s Trunk Show will be held in the Silvermine Galleries from 12am until 5pm. Also this weekend is Sesame Friends Meet, Greet and Sing-a-Long, a children’s workshop with local Sesame Street puppeteers, and “Abstraction and Decoration,” a lecture by Guild Artist and Faculty Member David Dunlop.
