The Watermark at 3030 Park recently held its third annual resident art show. The exhibition showcased work by resident artists, ranging from colored pencil and watercolor to oils, sculpture and more. A panel of expert judges selected five pieces of art to be considered for the 2011 Watermark “Expressions” calendar, which features artwork from residents of The Watermark’s communities across the country.

“The annual calendar competition is an exciting time because it gives us the chance to recognize the outstanding work of our artists and also allows them to share their work with the outside community,” said Kevin Hunter, Executive Director of The Watermark at 3030 Park. “We have a strong tradition of residents featured in the annual Watermark calendar and we confident that our artists will shine again in this year’s national competition.”

Artwork from residents John Dos Passos, Bob Hartman and Dan Roth was selected as “Best in Show” and will compete for a month in the calendar. Residents Florence Swett and Mary Giunta received “Young at Art” awards, which are awarded to new artists.

“Our community is centered around the arts,” said Hartman, whose piece “Homeward Bound” will go on to compete in the national competition. “We have a number of talented artists residing here and we are presented with many opportunities, such as the annual art show, to continue to thrive. I am proud that my work was recognized.”

Winners of the national calendar competition will be announced later this year.
