J.N. Ruddy Building & Restoration wins prestigious award

The Home Builders Association of Connecticut (HBACT) has awarded the 2009 Grand Home Building Industry Award (HOBI) for Remodeling Project of the Year to J. N. Ruddy Building & Restoration of Stamford for restoring the Hotel Chesterfield, at 1404 Shippan Avenue in Stamford. J.N. Ruddy Building & Restoration, headed by John N. Ruddy is also the recipient of a 2009 HOBI Award for Best Old/New Remodeled Home.

J.N. Ruddy transformed the circa 1862 Shippan Point property from a dilapidated rooming house that was originally built as a mansion for Benjamin Scofield into a stunning luxury boutique hotel. J.N. Ruddy thoughtfully restored the exquisite Stamford landmark, capitalizing on Green Building principles while insuring that the important historic architectural details of the building were restored to their original grandeur.

More than 90 HOBI Awards, the state’s most prestigious home building industry awards were awarded this year to builders throughout Connecticut for excellence in design, construction, remodeling, and land development. Recipients are chosen by a jury of peers who select the best in class in the State of Connecticut.

Mr. Ruddy, a life-long Stamford resident, is a member of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Fairfield County (HBRA), the local chapter of the HBA of Connecticut, part of the National Association of Home Builders. HBRA President Mary Boudreau calls the Grand Award a well deserved one for Ruddy.
