Ladies Who Launch (LWL) Southwestern, CT, an organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurial women with the launch of new businesses, and Jones New York have selected the semi-finalists for the Jones New York Empowerment Fund. Through the Jones New York Empowerment Fund, Jones New York will award $30,000 worth of grants in September 2010.

According to Ladies Who Launch Market Director, Kathy McShane, “I
received over 100 applications for the grant. It was very difficult to narrow it down to the 20 that were submitted to Jones New York and Dee Dee Myers, former Press Secretary for President Clinton, for final selection of the winners. Ms. McShane commented, “In working with women, I have found that one of the major barriers to starting or growing a business is obtaining funding. Therefore, I am thrilled to be able to offer these women some financial support through the grant program”. Norwalk residents include Emma Kirwan, Peaks Over Poverty, Meridith Gray, Naked, Dimity Kirwan, Beyond Teaching and Jennifer Covello, Frittabello, LLC were among the semi-finalists.

Ladies Who Launch, a major national franchise, was started in 2002 and now has franchisees in more than 50 cities in the U.S. and Canada. It provides support, training, financial and creative resources, and valuable connections to aggressive, enterprising women who want to put their new-business ideas into action and become successful as soon as possible. They offer both on-line and off-line resources including workshops. To find out more visit http://ladieswholaunch.com/southwesternct or email Kathy McShane at
