STAMFORD, CT - The children of Stamford’s Hart Magnet and Springfield Elementary Schools, along with Mayor Pavia, will be helping Patriot National Bank salute some very special soldiers for Veteran’s Day. On Wednesday, November 9th at 5:30 pm at the Patriot branch located at 838 High Ridge Road, student representatives from each school will present cards and letters to members of the Disabled American Veterans Organization (DAV), thanking them for their service and sacrifice to our country.
The cards and letters will be on display at Patriot’s two Stamford branches, (High Ridge Road and
900 Bedford Street), throughout the month of November. They will then be sent to soldiers currently recuperating at Walter Reed Medical Center through Operation Gift Card. This volunteer service organization was started through the DAV as a means of providing resources and gift cards to hospitalized soldiers and their families.
Patriot National Bank began their patriotic partnership with the Connecticut DAV in 2006. In addition to hosting receptions linking the children and the Vets, we have been accepting donations in our branches to support the non-profit DAV. As a result of the generosity extended by our customers and employees, we contributed $10,000 towards the purchase of a van which is used to provide transportation for vets to and from the Rocky Hill hospital facility.
The DAV provides programs and assistance free of charge, enabling disabled veterans and their families to restart and reshape their lives as civilians. For more information, contact www.davmembersportal.org/ct.
