To acknowledge the important relationship that home builders have with local building departments, The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Fairfield County (HBRA) has awarded its “2010 Building Official of the Year” to William Reynolds, Building Official for the Town of Ridgefield, Connecticut. Reynolds, who has worked for the Ridgefield Building Department for 20 years, was honored at the association’s annual Building Officials Night on Wednesday, February 3.
The ceremony included building officials from neighboring cities and towns in Fairfield County, members of District #8 Connecticut Building Officials Association (CBOA), who strive toward a relationship with the HBRA of mutual cooperation to obtain a quality, code compliant project.
Mary Boudreau, President of the HBRA, a local branch of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), representing area builders, remodelers, land developers and allied services, says the award is a way for builders to show appreciation for the work that building inspectors do guiding a project from start to finish.
“Our members are able to provide a high level of service and quality thanks to the input we receive from our county building officials,” says Boudreau. “This night is an important opportunity for our builders, remodelers and associates to collaborate with officials from different municipalities on mutual goals.”
“I’m very grateful to be acknowledged for the years of service building officials put into the field, and this award is a pleasant surprise” William Reynolds says. “I know the struggles first-hand coming from the building side, so it gives me a certain respect and understanding of what builders go through.”
Ridgefield’s First Selectman Rudy Marconi, who is proud that Ridgefield has been selected for the award, says Reynolds is very deserving.
“For the last 20 years, Bill has been able to maintain a consistently favorable reputation with all builders, regardless of the size of their project. Bill treats all applications fairly and has succeeded in achieving a turnaround time that is no more than two weeks of a plan submittal. As the First Selectman, I can say that it has been a pleasure working with Bill and sharing in his success in delivering a quality service here in Ridgefield.”
Reynolds will celebrate his 20th anniversary working for the Town of Ridgefield this year. Prior to this, he worked for Danbury’s Building Department as an Assistant Building Inspector, and he owned a contracting company that specialized in framing for residential and light commercial construction.
