NEW YORK, NY - Global Strategy Group today announced that Roy Occhiogrosso will rejoin the firm as Managing Director in the Hartford, CT office.

Occhiogrosso, formerly a partner with GSG from 2003 to 2010, returns to the firm after serving for the past two years as senior adviser and chief strategist to Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy. A top consultant on Governor Malloy’s successful campaign bid in 2010, Occhiogrosso has since overseen all communications operations for the Office of the Governor. In addition, he has served as chief spokesperson and speechwriter, and advised on the framing of all major policy issues for the Administration.

“We are delighted that Roy is rejoining GSG,” said Jon Silvan, CEO. “His deep expertise in private and not-for-profit sector communications, combined with his vast experience in government and politics makes him an incredible asset to our team and to our clients.”

“We think Roy and Tanya will make a top-notch team,” said Silvan.

“I look forward to continuing to build GSG’s strong presence in Connecticut, and to extending the firm’s unrivaled combination of critical thinking and on-the-ground results that it provides for clients,” said Occhiogrosso. “I am excited to return to such an outstanding team.”

“Roy’s work in Connecticut and his deep experience in the Northeast region will be a huge asset to our office,” said Tanya Meck, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Communications. “I'm really looking forward to working with him on behalf of our current and future clients.”

Occhiogrosso was named one of Connecticut’s “50 Most Influential People” by Hartford Magazine in 2012. Prior to joining Governor Malloy’s administration, Occhiogrosso was a partner with GSG from 2003 to 2010, where he helped grow the firm’s practice areas in public affairs, strategic communications, media relations, political strategy and public policy for a broad array of political, corporate and advocacy clients. Earlier in his career, he served as a communications and political strategist for numerous candidates for public office at the local, state and national levels.

Occhiogrosso will be based in GSG’s Hartford, CT office beginning on January 14.
