The Perrin Family Foundation awards $10,000 to Child Guidance Center

The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut (CGC), a non-profit agency providing professional mental health services to children, adolescents, and their families, has received a $10,000 donation from the Perrin Family Foundation. This donation will support the agency’s Child, Adolescent, and Family Therapy (CAFT) Program.

The cornerstone of CGC for nearly 55 years, the CAFT Program utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to provide a broad range of mental health assessments and treatment services tailored to meet the individual needs of children and families. Treatment services include individual, group, or family therapy, parent guidance and play therapy, or medications as needed.

“We are extremely honored that the Perrin Family Foundation, which places a focus on the well-being of children, continues to support our efforts,” said CGC Executive Director Sherry Perlstein. “The Perrin Family Foundation recognizes the great need for mental health services within our community, and through this generous gesture, CGC will be able to continue providing effective and timely services to help children overcome challenges and enable them to reach their optimal potential.”

Founded in 1994, the Perrin Family Foundation is committed to providing equal opportunities for children and young adults to lead safe, productive, and creative lives. Based in Ridgefield, Connecticut, the Perrin Family Foundation funds a continuum of direct social services and empowerment programs in Fairfield County, as well as youth engagement and social change programs throughout the state to address unmet needs. The goal of the Perrin Family Foundation is to encourage and support non-profit organizations in the areas of education, health, social services, and advocacy for youth in underserved communities. The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut is a non-profit mental health resource, serving children and teenagers in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan, both self referred and through referrals from schools, physicians, courts, and public and private human service agencies, and physicians. CGC’s clinical staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and marriage and family therapists work with more than 2,300 children annually, providing culturally competent and sensitive care to families representative of the rich ethnic mix of communities CGC serves. Preventative services are provided to youngsters, parents, and professionals through community education and consultation programs.
