Stamford, CT - The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is pleased to announce that Stamford-based UBS and philanthropists George and Carol Bauer of Wilton will be the 2009 honorees during the Aquarium’s 10th annual Red Apple Awards Dinner on Thurs., April 23.
This annual fund-raising event supports The Maritime Aquarium’s Red Apple Fund for Student Enrichment, which helps to make the Aquarium’s unique marine-science and environmental-education programs available to students and teachers in the tri-state area who otherwise may not be able to participate. Guests enjoy a sit-down dinner, silent and live auctions, and a one-of-a-kind cocktail party throughout the Aquarium galleries, as well as the event’s awards ceremony.
The Red Apple Awards honor companies, organizations and individuals who share The Maritime Aquarium’s concern for the natural world and environmental education. This year’s awards – now in their milestone 10th year – are themed to celebrate “A Decade of Dedication to Environmental Education.”
The Aquarium also is pleased to welcome back Tony Award-winning singer-actor James Naughton as the night’s master of ceremonies.
Supporting Sponsors of the 2009 Red Apple Awards Dinner are Fairfield County Bank, GE Commercial Finance, the Alex G. Nason Foundation and the Xerox Foundation.
Contributing Sponsors are Bob Becker Communications, Connecticut Cottages & Gardens, Philip Stone Caterers and TFI Envision Inc.
Saira Rizvi of New Canaan is chairing this year’s event, with co-chairs Gina Ely of Norwalk and Kathy Mitchell of Fairfield.
