Storrs, CT — The William Benton Museum of Art is proud to present The 2011 Master of Fine Arts Exhibition through May 8, 2011. This marks the 22nd year of the Art and Art History Department’s MFA program at the University of Connecticut. The collaborative exhibition, entitled Tell It Slant, features the works of five art students. Each piece invites the viewer to experience the gradual unfolding of the truth, a “revealing fragment of human experience.”

J.R. URETSKY’s work is comprised of sculptures and videos. She received her BFA in interdisciplinary studio practice at Biola University in Los Angeles. She has exhibited at venues in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston and her work has been published by online and video journals.

LANI ASUNCION is a sculptor who received her BFA in sculpture, painting, and printmaking from Middle Tennessee State University. Her art reflects the influence of growing up in Tennessee, Hawaii, and Okinawa, Japan. Her work has been displayed in galleries in both NYC and Tennessee.

SIOBHAN LANDRY is a photographer and videographer who received a BA in Art History and American Culture from the University of Michigan. She furthered her studies at art institutions including the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Massachusetts College of Art.

BEN PIWOWAR is a painter currently reconsidering the boundaries of his practice to include drawings, installations, and object making. He received a dual-degree in Studio Art and English literature at the University of Maryland. Prior to pursuing his MFA, Ben worked as an artist and teacher.

RITA LOMBARDI discovered a love of photography at the age of 15; it represents to her the perfect combination of feeling and logic. She earned her BFA in Photography and Art History from Massachusetts College of Art. When she is not creating art, she is indulging her favorite pastime of baking.
