One of the most successful female pop bands of all time, The Go-Go’s are coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, June 20, at 8 p.m. “We Got The Beat”, “Our Lips Are Sealed”, “Vacation”, “Head Over Heels” and “Turn to You” are some of their mega ‘80s hits. Today, with the original hit making lineup intact, including Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock and Jane Wiedlin, The Go-Go’s deliver in their live shows every bit of the raw energy of their now-legendary punk beginnings, tempered with the wisdom of three decades of pop perfection. Known as America’s sweethearts, the Go-Go’s helped cement the foundation of the early ‘80?s pop-rock sound among their international fan base.
These superstars developed a whole new genre during an amazing three-decade reign as high pop priestesses without the aid of outside composers, session players or creative compromise. Special guest opening act is Carly & Eliza, 17-year-old singer/songwriters with distinct harmonies rooted in pop-folk. Their debut album Fighting Fate was released this year. The Little Pub will pour a free glass of house wine or draft beer with dinner the night of the show when tickets/stubs are presented. This event is part of the Guinness Black Lager Rock Series?and is partially underwritten by Adam Broderick Salon & Spa and Nature's Temptations.
From their very first show, the five feisty role models for a generation of dance-crazed girls and guys sang and played their own songs. The double-platinum-awarded album Beauty And The Beat reached number one and like any truly classic rock band, The Go-Go’s enduring hits live on in countless compilations, movie soundtracks, remakes and television commercials. Now, as in ‘81, no one sounds like The Go-Go’s but The Go-Go’s. In a music world gone crazy, The Go-Go’s still have the go-go beat that makes fans come-come-come to concerts and dance in the aisles.
For tickets ($90), call the box office (203) 438-5795, or order line at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
