Get your dancing shoes on because you won’t be able to resist the funk and soul sound of NYC’s hottest band Soul Be It headliners for this year’s Are You Dense MusicFest 2010 on Saturday, August 28, 2010 2:30–9:00 pm at Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury www.quassy.com. Soul Be It is a twelve piece horn band that covers and interprets the music of Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power and other funk/soul bands. Mallorie Leogrand, a former Waterbury resident, now of New York City, is the female vocalist whose powerhouse, sultry vocals and look blow audiences away.

After the MusicFest’s successful inaugural year last year, Are You Dense, Inc. founder and six year breast cancer survivor Nancy Cappello, Ph.D. of Woodbury and her husband Joe, who produced the MusicFest, decided to continue the event which has become the organization's principle financial support to spread the word about the Best-Kept Secret, a woman’s breast density.

Are You Dense, Inc. is the organization Dr. Cappello founded after her own late stage breast cancer diagnosis, after a decade of "normal" mammograms. The reason? Cappello, like many women, has dense breast tissue. Mammograms are limited in "seeing" cancer in women with dense tissue because of the dense breast tissue. The Are you Dense, Inc. organization is a non profit 501(c)(3) public charity devoted to raising awareness of dense breast tissue for the early detection of breast cancer.

The MusicFest line-up for this family-friendly event hosted by celebrity emcees Kristen Cusato of News 8 and Marit Price of STAR 99.9FM and sponsored by the Harold Leever Cancer Center, Palace Theater, WATR 1320 AM, Quassy and the Republican-American include:

Andy Marcucci - acoustic singer/songwriter and band

Illuminata – all girl group

Wax Palace – rock/ heavy metal

Danielle Ashley – singer/songwriter

Kelly Mittleman with special guest Joel Rosenblatt (Spyro-Gyra) - jazz

Janet Ortiz - gospel singer

Christen Cappello - singer/songwriter

In addition to the music, another special part of the day will take place when the sterling silver "Exposing the Secret" pendant created by Washington, CT jewelry designer and artist Susan A. Katz of EarthWhorls LLC (www.earthwhorls.com) is unveiled. Katz was introduced to Cappello by Are You Dense, Inc. board member, Catherine Bauer also a breast cancer survivor. Katz was compelled to do something after hearing Cappello’s amazing story (go to www.areyoudense.org for full story). This extraordinary individually created piece of jewelry, symbolizing the organization’s mission, will be available for orders the day of the Music Fest with proceeds going to Are You Dense, Inc.

The event will also feature exhibitors as well as a fabulous silent auction and raffle items. Among the items to be auctioned include: North Carolina Outer Banks Beach Cottage, a signed DVD by AC/CD, Palace Theater tickets, 18 hole Chippanee foursome w/cart.
