Director Chris Peterson will hold open auditions for the Town Players of New Canaan’s winter show, Bernard Slade’s comedy Same Time, Next Year at the Powerhouse Theatre, Waveny Park, 677 South Avenue, New Canaan, on Sunday and Monday, December 11 & 12 at 7:00 PM. Perusal copies of the script will be available at the Reference Desk of the New Canaan Library. For further information, please call Patrick Kiley at (203) 763-9416.

In Same Time, Next Year, one of the most popular comedies of the American stage, New Jersey accountant George and Oakland, California housewife Doris meet at a Northern California inn in February 1951. They have an affair, and then agree to meet once a year, despite the fact that both are married to others and have six children between them. Over the course of the next 24 years, they develop an emotional intimacy deeper than what one would expect to find between two people meeting for a clandestine relationship just once a year. During the time they spend with each other, they discuss births, deaths, and marital problems each is experiencing at home, while they adapt to the social changes affecting their lives.

The age range for George and Doris is 30s-40s. Both actors must be able to play from 30s to 60s as the play progresses. Performance dates are Friday and Saturday, February 24, 25, and March 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 8:00 PM and on Sunday, February 26 and March 4 at 2:30 PM.
