On Friday, August 7th Brooklyn-based rock band BLACK TAXI returns to Connecticut, playing a 9pm concert at Rack ‘n Roll in Stamford as part of 107.1 the Peak’s NEXT Charity Concert Series. NEXT, hosted by Chris Bro, is known for promoting fresh new songs and artists on the radio. The concert series benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Connecticut, an organization dedicated to developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people through one-on-one mentoring. The following night, Saturday August 8th, BLACK TAXI heads north to Bridgeport for a 10pm show at Two Boots.
The three-year-old musical team is coming off a sold-out show at Manhattan’s Bowery Ballroom, where hundreds of BLACK TAXI fans came together to partake in the music. Last spring they played Radio Woodstock’s Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain, sharing a stage with bands like the Allman Brothers, Gomez, and the Hold Steady. In December, BLACK TAXI won the 2008 Musicians & Emerging Artists New York (M.E.A.N.Y.) Festival, headlined in Boston Common for New Year’s Eve 2008, and currently continues to play for sold-out crowds at major NYC venues.
BLACK TAXI’s original sets feature songs such as “Wanted Man” and “Take a Ticket” from their most recent EP. The band has nearly finished recording their first full-length album, to be self-released in September.
