On September 13th, TheStage Repertory Company, in conjunction with The Palace Theatre in Danbury, will present Musical Mondays! featuring Bobby Cronin. The concert marks the first in an ongoing monthly series that will be produced by the Danbury-based theatre company at the historic downtown Danbury venue. The series will feature the music of contemporary musical theatre composers performed by some of Broadway’s hottest talent.
Just back from a concert appearance in London, Bobby Cronin is a fast-rising ASCAP PLUS Award winning composer/writer who "...thinks big in all ways. Writing in a contemporary musical theatre vein, the songs are passionate and powerful in a take-no-prisoners way that will knock your socks off." -- Rob Lester, Cabaret Exchange. Bobby's current project, The Beaten Path, is a contemporary, pop/rock driven new musical about troubled teens in a wilderness therapy program. Due to audience response and support, The Beaten Path received a New York City concert presentation in January 2010. A workshop with additional book writer, Danbury resident Alicia Dempster, is scheduled for September 2010.
Cronin is also the composer/lyricist for Daybreak, ‘Til Death Do Us Part (book by Allen Mogol), Caty Bridgewater (book by Trey Tatum), Untitled Kate Pazakis Project (with Crystal Skillman), Ten Reasons Why I Won’t Go Home with You (MITF nomination for Outstanding Music & Lyrics, Outstanding Musical, book by Kelly Nichols). He has also co-written That’s Andy (with Crystal Skillman and Kevin Carter), A Christmas Carol (with Angelyn Fullarton Benson) and From This Day Forward: A Schwartzical and is the composer/lyricist for the Web series Thank You, Next by Ray Lee & Ben Gettinger. Cronin is a graduate of Yale University and a member of the Dramatists Guild.
Performing at the September 13th concert will be Allison Case (Hair), Jennifer DiNoia (Wicked), Jenn Furman (Wicked), Brian Gallagher (Wonderland), Jared Gertner (Spelling Bee, Band Geeks!), Andrew Kober (Hair, Spelling Bee), Robyn Lee (BRATT Camp) LaQuet Sharnell (Memphis, The Lion King), Brad Simanski (Wicked) and Brett Teresa (BRATT Camp). Cronin will be performing on keyboards and will be joined by band members Chris Lane, Danny Stone and Joshua Samuels, all of whom play on Cronin’s CD Reach The Sky, available on iTunes and Amazon.com.
Musical Mondays! featuring Bobby Cronin will run on September 13th, 2010. Curtain time is at 8:00pm and the doors open at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15. The Palace Theatre is located at 165 Main Street in Danbury, CT.
