Bruce Hornsby is known for his reality-based lyrics, infused with rock, jazz and bluegrass notes (think "The Way It Is") and his dynamic live performances. He is returning to The Ridgefield Playhouse of Movies and the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, this time with his new band, the Noisemakers.
"The Way It Is" earned Hornsby his first Grammy; his second was for "Valley Road," bluegrass at its best. Bruce Hornsby is treasured for both his piano playing and his songwriting. He has played with the greats-from Jerry Garcia to Branford Marsalis to Bonnie Raitt-and he has made his mark-triple platinum with his debut album, "The Way It Is." His debut generated three Top 20 hits, including its #1 title track, and earned Bruce Hornsby the Best New Artist Grammy in 1986. Number 2 Grammy came for Best Bluegrass Recording for "Valley Road" and his third for Best Pop Instrumental for "Barcelona Mona," created with Branford Marsalis for the Barcelona Olympics.
