Hello, Dolly is probably one of the best-known and much-loved of all Broadway musicals and there are plenty of reasons for that. And that makes performing in it that much more fun, so people are encourage to audition for Curtain Call’s production!
Auditions for the theater's spring production of HELLO, DOLLY have been scheduled for January 25 and 26, 2010.
Directed by Ben Frimmer, Music Direction by Greg Chrzczon and Choreography by Kari Ann Sweeney.
Auditions will be held at Curtain Call, 1349 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, each night beginning at 7:00PM. (Youth auditions will be held from 6:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday 1/25 only.) ALL ROLES ARE OPEN - Non-union actors only
Those auditioning should prepare a brief song in the style of the show and have sheet music in the proper key. You may be asked to read and or learn a brief dance combination at your initial audition so please be prepared with appropriate clothing and foot-ware.
Seeking a large diverse cast including the following:
Mrs. Dolly Gallagher Levi: 30-50 Soprano- Bflat to G (briefly needs to touch the G below Bflat during "Dancing")
Matchmaker, widow, meddler, opportunist, life-loving, commanding, strong stage presence.
Horace Vandergelder: 40-60 Baritone (or Tenor) B to E
Well-known half-a-millionaire, widower, owns the Feed Store, gruff, set in his ways, authoritative.
Cornelius Hackl: 18-28 Tenor Bflat to G#
Head clerk at the Feed Store, energetic, enthusiastic, and adventurous. Strong dancer.
Barnaby Tucker: 16-26 Tenor Bflat to G#
Assistant to Cornelius at the Feed Store, naïve, energized, follower. Strong dancer.
Irene Molloy: 20-30 Alto or 2nd Soprano G to D (possibly touching upper F)
A millineress with a Hat Shop near 14th Street in New York City. A widow, beautiful, smart, fun-loving. Needs to dance
Minnie Fay: 15-25
A young girl who works in Irene’s shop. Irene’s assistant, naïve, straight-laced, fresh, follower. Needs to dance.
Ambrose Kemper: 16-30
Struggling artist, good-natured, accommodating, wants to marry Ermengarde. Some dance.
Ernestina: 25-60
A girl in need of Mrs. Levi’s services.
Ermengarde: 16-28
Horace’s niece, whining, high-strung, wants to marry Ambrose. Some dance.
Rudolph Reisenweber: 35-65
Maitre’d of the Harmonia Gardens, proper, commanding. Some dance
