Ten-year-old Stanley Lambchop is an ordinary run-of-the-mill kid who is tired of living a normal life with his normal family. He wants to travel the world and do something amazing that no one has ever seen before. Stanley gets his wish after a bulletin board hanging over his bed comes loose and falls on him one night, turning him into a virtual pancake.

At first he doesn’t mind being flat because he can slide under locked doors, he is the best in his class at hide-and-seek, he can become a trampoline, and his friends even fly him as a kite! Stanley realizes that he cannot be flat forever though, and decides to scour the globe for a solution to his problem. The adventure begins when he puts himself in a big envelope and travels around the world as a human letter.

In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley is stamped, posted and cancelled from South Africa to Mexico, from Russia to England and China and beyond. Whether he’s rapping with the Declaration of Independence, thwarting robberies at the Louvre Museum in Paris, or meeting new friends and learning about different cultures through song and dance, Stanley is closing in on his goal of being a three-dimensional boy once more.

This show is recommended for children ages five and above and includes educational connections in Geography, Social Studies, English, Visual Arts, Character Education and Multicultural Studies.

The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley is sponsored in part by Alliance Limousine, with additional support from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.
