Sarah Silverman, star of Comedy Central’s hit show "Crank Yankers" and The School of Rock hit film, will headline at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, September 14, at 8 p.m.
In her debut performance at the performing arts center in Ridgefield, Silverman will address social taboos and controversial topics such as racism, sexism and religion. Special guest is TV, film and radio comedian Kyle Dunnigan of Comedy Central fame.
Because so many people who celebrate Yom Kippur, which calls for refraining from eating and drinking until sundown on Saturday, September 14, (which is technically 7:07 p.m. that night) will be coming to see Sarah Silverman, Steve's Bagels is offering an assortment of their signature bagels with a schmeer and other goodies in the lobby from 7 - 7:45 p.m. for all ticket holders, whether or not they celebrate Yom Kippur. This pre-show treat will be just in time for audience members to refuel before experiencing one of the funniest comedians on the planet.
After all, humor is good therapy. Bissell House (378 Main St., Ridgefield) is offering Silverman fans a free glass of house wine or draft beer with dinner when tickets/stubs are presented the night of this event. Because the folks at Clark Construction Company believe in the power of laughter, this show is part of the Clark Construction Comedy Series with media sponsor i95.1fm The Home of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Comedienne, writer and actress, Sarah Silverman’s satirical comedy has been featured in such notable shows as "The Larry Sanders Show", "Seinfeld", "Mr. Show with Bob and David", "Star Trek Voyager" and "Jag". Sarah also starred in the wildly popular self-titled show on Comedy Central “ The Sarah Silverman Show”, where she played a character named Sarah Silverman whose absurd daily life is told through an array of scripted scenes and songs. In each episode, Sarah manages to fall into unique, sometimes unsettling and always hilarious predicaments, with her sister and geeky gay neighbors always by her side.
Sarah Silverman has made guest appearances in some high-profile shows including “Saturday Night Live” (writer/performer), “Frasier” and ”Monk”. In the words of someone who attended one of Sarah Silverman’s recent shows, “What's great and refreshing is she still has a few surprises up her sleeves! It was an honor to witness a true comedic icon.”
