Milford, CT - The Irish Heritage Society of Milford, Connecticut, will have their 8th Annual Irish Festivalon September 20 & 21, 2013 (rain or shine).
The Festival kicks-off on Friday, September 20 (6:00pm – 10:00pm) with live musical performances by The Kerry Boys & The MacLean Avenue Band. There will be a variety of food samplings and a great assortment of tasty libations.
On Saturday, September 21 (11:00am – 10:00pm), the full festival comes alive with Irish music, dancing, culture, endless food choices, tasty libations and glorious Irish wares for sale. There will be live musical performances by Bobby Morrill, The Highland Rovers Band, County Cavan, O’Hanleigh, Calley McGrane & the Exiles, and Colleen and the Boys. Irish dancing performances will include Kathleen Mulkerin’s School of Irish Dancing and Lenihan School of Irish Dancing.
Food offerings will include corned beef, shepherd’s pie, fish & chips, roast beef, chili, hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork, bbq chicken sandwiches, and sausage & peppers. Snacks and beverages include fried dough, kettle corn, Italian ice, soda, Guinness, Harp and other beers, Twisted Tea, Smirnoff Ice, hard cider and wine.
The Irish Marketplace offers Irish crafts and gifts, jewelry, books, artwork, and clothing for children and adults alike. Guinness and Jameson logo articles and clothing will be available as well as homemade Irish dog biscuits for your pet’s pleasure.
The Cultural Tent will feature a tea room with Irish coffee and baked goods, Irish history/language, genealogy, trivia; tin whistle demonstration, music (featuring the Shamrogues), and step dancing demonstrations.
In addition to the 50-50 Raffles, there will be a raffle for a fabulous 10 day trip for two to Ireland, including airfare donated by Cara Group travel. Free children activities will be available between 11:00am and 6:00pm.
Admission is $5 Friday and $10 Saturday for those 13 years and older. A two day pass is $13.
The Festival will take place at The Fowler Field Rotary Pavilion behind the Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Avenue, Milford, CT 06460, downtown Milford CT.
