Curtain Call, Inc. is Stamford's longest-running community theatre group, located at the Sterling Farms Complex, 1349 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT 06905, and providing year-round live theatre productions and performance workshops. Off the Cuff: Improv for Adults
Instructor: Tony Republicano
Date: Saturday, January 30, 2010; 10:30am to 1:30pm
Improv is unscripted theatre designed to sharpen instincts, keep actors fresh and on their toes, and build confidence to confront any situation in live performance: whether it be on stage, live television, auditions, interviews or even a business presentation. Tony Republicano has taught with New England Academy of Theatre, Artworks, Middle School University and Interactive Educational Theatre. He is an accomplished actor of stage, TV and film.
The Action to the Word: Stage Combat and the Text
Instructor: Peter Barbieri, Jr.
Date: Saturday, February 20, 2010; 10:30am to 1:30pm
Explore basic stage combat techniques (including sword play) in context of selected scenes from Shakespeare, and examine how the action and text work together. Peter Barbieri, Jr. is Curtain Call's associate Artistic Director, director of the Shakespeare on the Green, a graduate of Allegheny College and the National Shakespeare Conservatory.
Sight to Song: Sight Reading for Musical Theatre
Instructor: Greg Chrzczon
Date: Saturday, March 6, 2010; 10:30am to 1:30pm
This master class will get you up and running with the skills you need for musical theatre performance, auditions or as a pit musician. You'll learn to read music including note recognition, keys, counts, rhythms and intervals. Greg Chrzczon has been a music director since 1993. He is a classically trained pianist, musician and also an actor.
Super Soap Saturday
Instructor: Robert Scinto
Date: Saturday, April 10, 2010; 12:00pm to 3:00pm
Learn acting techniques for on-camera performance and auditions from a long-time, New York City soap opera director. Robert Scinto has worked on daytime television for nearly 30 years, having directed such well-known programs as The Guiding Light, All My Children, One Life to Live and Loving. His work has earned him multiple Emmy Awards.
