Multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning DIANA KRALL brings her ‘Glad Rag Doll' Tour to The Bushnell in Hartford on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 7:30pm.
Krall recently solidified her position as the world's top selling jazz artist as her newest album 'Glad Rag Doll' (Verve) debuted at #1 on the Billboard Traditional Jazz chart. Released in September, 'Glad Rag Doll' marks Krall's fifth consecutive Top 10 debut on the Billboard 200. She was featured on the December cover of DownBeat magazine celebrating her 11th win for best female vocalist as voted by DownBeat readers and recently made appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, A Prairie Home Companion, The Colbert Report and Piers Morgan Tonight.
Working for the first time with renowned producer T Bone Burnett, the record has also earned notice as a new direction for Krall, with the Associated Press declaring "It rocks. It swings. It shuffles. It's sexy, sly, intimate, and exhilarating." DownBeat calls the album "an inspired, gritty burst of new creativity" and Entertainment Weekly sums it up as "enthralling."
Krall’s career soared when her album, When I Look in Your Eyes, first won a Grammy for best jazz vocal and became the first jazz disc to be nominated for Album of the Year in twenty-five years. In 2002, The Look of Love was a #1 bestseller in the US and a five-time platinum album in Canada. 2004’s The Girl in the Other Room, was her first to focus on her own songwriting (with six tunes co-written with husband Elvis Costello); 2005’s Christmas Songs proved one of the season’s best-sellers; and 2006’s From This Moment On was an upbeat, critical success. She has achieved worldwide record sales exceeding 15 million.
Following 2009’s Quiet Nights (Verve), the renowned jazz singer has performed on four different continents, produced Barbra Streisand’s “Love Is the Answer,” contributed “Simple Twist of Fate” to the charity album Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International and performed on Paul McCartney’s album, Kisses On The Bottom.
