A legend in rock history, Eric Burdon is once again on tour with The Animals, a name synonymous with the gritty British band that made “The House of the Rising Sun” a classic.
Eric Burdon burst onto the music scene in the 1960s with “The House of the Rising Sun” recorded by The Animals, part of the British music Invasion. Eric Burdon and The Animals’ sound was bluesy, gritty and benefited from Burdon’s deep vocals. The original lineup of musicians had a reunion in 1983 and, in 1993, the current band was formed. They will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, October 23, at 8 p.m. with their timeless songbook of hits that includes “It’s My Life”, “We Gotta Get out of This Place”, “Baby Let Me Follow You Down”, “Paint It Black”, “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”. This show is underwritten by Ridgefield Capitol Asset Management LP.

The musical journey of Eric Burdon is hard to compare as he has gone from being the driving force behind the British sensation The Animals to pioneering the San Francisco psychedelic sound to fronting WAR, the funk band of the 1970s. He also recorded an album with Jimmy Witherspoon of blues-jazz tunes. Reunited under the imprimatur of Eric Burdon and The Animals, he is on tour again for a series of world-wide projects. The current lineup features Pete Barton (vocals, bass), John Williamson on guitar and vocals, Mick Gallagher (keyboards), John Steel (drums), Christian Madden and Zoot Money on keyboards, Spencer Davis on vocals, guitar and harmonica and Mick Green on guitar.

For tickets ($72.50/67.50), call or visit the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
