Millions of record sales later, guitarist Robert Cray will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse
Robert Cray’s ability with a guitar has earned him five Grammy Awards and accolades from such peers as Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy. The music on his most recent album, “This Time,” represents Cray’s American blues style or, as he puts it, “…a little rock, soul, jazz, blues, a little gospel feel…a little Caribbean flavor or something.” A singer-songwriter-guitarist, Robert Cray has been internationally admired as an artist whose innovations have brought new life to the blues. His “Chicken in the Kitchen” and “That’s What Keeps Me Rockin’” should satisfy even the most demanding blues fans.

You can hear why Robert Cray has not only won multiple Grammy Awards but has also influenced a legion of guitar players when he performs at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, March 25, at 8 p.m. Media sponsor is The Fox 95.5 fm. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass which includes VIP parking, an open bar and hors-d’oeuvre catered by Ancona’s Market is available for this show. Call the Playhouse at 203-438-5795.

Cray's “This Time” - the first studio album on Cray's own imprint, Nozzle Records, distributed by Vanguard Records - arrives at a vital juncture in the musician's career, marked by creative renewal and a key reunion with an old performing partner, Richard Cousins. Bassist Cousins, whose tenure with the Robert Cray Band began with its origins in Eugene, Oregon in 1974 and extended through 1991, encompasses such early high-water marks as “Strong Persuader” (1986) and “Don't Be Afraid of the Dark” (1988), both winners of the best contemporary blues performance Grammy Awards. The refreshing lineup of Cray, Cousins, Jim Pugh (keyboards), and Tony Braunagel (drums) came together at Santa Barbara, California, to record “This Time.”
