After the on-stage interview, the audience gets to grill Fran about most anything! Fran Lebowitz is a noted author, journalist, social observer, purveyor of urban cool, witty chronicler of the ”me decade” and the cultural satirist whom many call the heir to Dorothy Parker.

Alison Bailes, a popular producer, writer and film critic, will host. Born in England, Alison Bailes is known for her work on Reel Talk, At the IFC Center and Jaws: The Inside Story. She will ask Fran about a plethora of topics, from her insights on gender, race and gay rights to the media, as well as Fran’s pet peeves -- celebrity culture, tourists and strollers. Fran will do a book signing in the lobby after the show. Her books include Tales from A Broad: An Unreliable Memoir, Social Studies and The Fran Lebowitz Reader.

Her upcoming book, Progress, should be out in 2015. This event is part of The Moffly Media Entertaining Conversations ?and Ridgefield Library @ The Ridgefield Playhouse Event Series with media sponsor WSHU Public Radio Group.

After the famous Martin Scorsese directed a documentary film about Fran in 2010 entitled Public Speaking, he loved working with her so much that he cast Fran in the Oscar nominated film The Wolf of Wall Street. From the big screen to stages across the world, Fran Lebowitz has been entertaining audiences for decades with her implausibly truthful yet hysterical take on life. Her conversation at the Playhouse promises to be highly entertaining as Fran offers eye-widening stories about life in New York City, Andy Warhol and the glory days of the Studio 54 crowd.

"Fran Lebowitz… disapproves of virtually everything except sleep, cigarette smoking, and good furniture. Her essays and topical interviews on subjects ranging from the difficulty of finding an acceptable apartment to the art of freeloading at weekend houses have come to be regarded as classics of literary humor and social observation." The Paris Review

For tickets ($47.50), call (203) 438-5795 or visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
