Shakespeare on the Green & Green Expo will return to The Ridgefield Playhouse when HSBC presents “A Comedy of Errors”, produced by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (pictured) and The Ridgefield Playhouse, on the green next to the Playhouse on Saturday, August 20, at 2 p.m.
Families can enjoy Shakespeare in a whole new way, under a tent on the green next to The Ridgefield Playhouse, on Saturday, August 20, at 2 p.m. when HSBC presents “A Comedy of Errors” produced by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) and The Ridgefield Playhouse.

This is Shakespeare with a modern spin and fresh approach to one of his most hilarious works! During the Green Expo from 12 noon to 2 p.m., there will be fun, educational and even inspiring activities including demos of the latest high-tech bicycles from Ridgefield Bicycle Co., a wine tasting with Benziger Family Winery, the latest products from Pepsi, unique food tastings from Nature’s Temptations and Villarina’s Pasta and Fine Foods as well as green products and information from Practically Green, Udo Fit, Bruce Bennett Nissan, Hearst CT Media and more local businesses. Kids can get their faces painted by the artists at Enchanted Gardens. This family-friendly event is underwritten by HSBC, the Altria Group, Inc., The O’Connell Family, Scott Schneider and Trish Breed. It is sponsored by Bruce Bennett Nissan, Chris Bishop, Steve Carlson, Chris Couri, Joe Cugine, Scott Linke, David Lyons, Jerry Miller, Northeast Builders, Gary Smith and Andrew Tow.

A critically-acclaimed regional theater, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) inspires and delights audiences with contemporary performances of the works of William Shakespeare. For 24 seasons, the HVSF has eliminated the heavy language and over-dramatization associated with Shakespeare, making it the perfect show for all ages. It is the region’s only professional resident Shakespeare Company, based in the Boscobel estate in Garrison, New York. Each year, The Ridgefield Playhouse offers this show free as part of their commitment to making the timeless plays of Shakespeare accessible to all audiences.

Tickets are FREE (a limit of 5 per family), but must be reserved by calling the box office at 203-438-5795. They are also available at HSBC of Ridgefield (108 Danbury Road) or at Bruce Bennett Nissan (978 Danbury Road, Wilton). For more information on The Ridgefield Playhouse, visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
