There is nothing like the sounds of the season to bring the holidays home! At The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, December 16, at 8 p.m., stars of Broadway including Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein and The Phantom of the Opera’s Doug LaBrecque will join Tony® Award winner Debbie Gravitte in her “All-Star Holiday Show”. Legendary Broadway conductor Don Pippen and A Cappella 8 will round out this star-studded cast with the holiday favorites including “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “Twelve Days of Christmas” (with audience participation!), “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” plus some of the songs that helped make these stars famous. Legendary Broadway conductor Don Pippen and A Cappella 8 will round out this star-studded cast with holiday favorites including “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “Twelve Days of Christmas” (with audience participation!), “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” plus some of the songs that helped make these stars famous such as “Memory” (Cats) and “Defying Gravity” (Wicked). Members of The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra will be led by Maestro Gerald Steichen.
This event is part of the Ridgefield Magazine/Morris Media Group Broadway & Cabaret Series with radio sponsor WMNR Fine Arts Radio 88.1fm. It is partially underwritten by Adam Broderick Salon & Spa. A free glass of wine with dinner is being offered at Sarah’s Wine Bar (upstairs at Bernard’s on West Lane in Ridgefield), and Bernard’s will offer a special prix fixe pre-show dinner menu when tickets are presented. Reservations are suggested at Bernard’s.
Debbie Gravitte has entertained audiences around the globe with her “… magnetic stage presence”, according to Hollywood critic Rex Reed, in a career that always brings her back to Ridgefield. Ms. Gravitte earned a Tony® award for Best Featured Actress in A Musical for Jerome Robbins’s Broadway.
An award-winning actor and playwright, Harvey Fierstein wrote the book for the hit Broadway show La Cage aux Folles and both wrote and starred in Torch Song Trilogy. He has had leading roles in Fiddler on the Roof and Hairspray.
Doug LaBrecque has starred as both Raoul and The Phantom in Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera and has had a starring role in the revival of Showboat. Broadway conductor Don Pippin, who will guest conduct, is a Broadway legend and Tony® Award- winner.
