“Killing Us Softly 3” to be featured as part of a workshop at The Ridgefield Playhouse

The documentary, Killing Us Softly 3: Advertising’s Image of Women” by Jean Kilbourne, is a study of gender representation in advertising. The third in a series, the film will be shown at The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts on Sunday, May 18 at 4 p.m. and will be followed by interactive workshops. Part of the Adam Broderick Salon Series for Women & Girls, the screening and workshops are underwritten by the Fairfield County Community Foundation Fund for Women & Girls and the New Fairfield Community Foundation.

“Killing Us Softly – Advertising’s Image of Women.” The Adam Broderick Salon & Spa Series for Women and Girls, designed to enlighten and empower women and young girls, is based on presentations by outstanding female role models. It is family-focused and encourages stronger parent-child relationships, fosters positive change in young lives, and seeks to overcome obstacles for all of us to become strong, successful and important members of society.

The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of philanthropy to strengthen local communities and the region. Since 1992, individuals and organizations have established charitable funds and contributed to existing funds that support community and economic development, children and youth, education, the environment, health and human services, and the arts. With assets of approximately $150 million, the Foundation awarded more than $7.5 million in grants last year. In addition, the Foundation provides philanthropic advisory services and develops initiatives to address critical community issues.
