Enjoy good fun like a three-legged race at the Fairfield Museum’s picnic after the Memorial Day parade
Memorial Day is foremost a day of remembrance, and each year Fairfield’s patriotic sprit shines brightly as residents come out en masse to the Fairfield Memorial Day Parade. After the parade, Fairfield Museum invites the community to continue celebrating the spirit of the day at the second annual Memorial Day Community Picnic at Fairfield Museum.
Bring your family and friends, blankets and beach chairs to enjoy an afternoon of games, races, food, shopping and fun on the historic Town Green! Try your hand at an egg toss, play water-balloon games, enter a watermelon eating contest and pick a partner for the three-legged race. All the while, enjoy a wide variety of delicious food from the Ash Creek food tent, kettlecorn by Giggles and ice cream treats.
The excitement continues inside the museum, which will offer free admission for the day. Visitors to the museum will enjoy the museum’s newest exhibit, IMAGES, featuring the work of internationally acclaimed photographer Stephen Wilkes and a Juried Photography Competition Showcasing Talented Regional Photographers. The museum’s inaugural exhibit, Landscape of Change, will also be on view, which tells the story of Fairfield and its changing history over 350 years. Finally, the Fairfield Museum Shop, which contains a fabulous selection of home accents, is holding a ‘Red, White and Blue Sale.’
Over 1000 parade goers continued to celebrate the day at the Fairfield Museum’s Memorial Day picnic last year
“The Memorial Day Parade is a wonderful tradition in our town,” said Michael Jehle, Executive Director of Fairfield Museum. “After the parade we invite the community to come play some games, have a bite to eat and enjoy an afternoon at the museum. It’s a great opportunity to relax with friends and family.”
The picnic is scheduled to take place after the parade, from 12pm to 2pm at the museum, which is located at 370 Beach Road, behind Old Town Hall. For more information about the picnic, please visit the museum’s website, www.fairfieldhs.org.
