Musical Mondays, Curtain Call, Inc.’s popular concert reading series, returns for its 11th season of performances on Monday, December 5 at 7:30 pm on the main stage of the Kweskin Theatre. To mark the occasion, the series will introduce local audiences to a newly formed arts organization: the Northeast Children’s Theatre Company (NCTC). The group will present a concert reading of an original musical for family audiences: The Tortoise and the Hare (Book by Caitlin Lowans and Andrew Barbato, Music and Lyrics by Andrew Barbato and Lesley DeSantis). The performance is a preview of a new show that NCTC will debut as a full production in Stamford, CT, in March, 2012.

Northeast Children’s Theatre Company, founded in 2010 by Morgan Weitz and Tyler Paul, is a not-for-profit organization specializing in professional theatre for young audiences and families. Through artistic programming and educational services, NCTC strives to make theatre more accessible and have a positive impact on children at home and in the classroom.

The performance will be directed by Morgan Weitz who, in addition to serving at the Artistic Director of NCTC, is an accomplished theatre educator and director. Originally from Los Angeles, Weitz began her career as a music director and director at the Stages Performing arts academy in California and went on to direct several regional productions, including: Once On This island, Dog Sees God, Into The Woods, Almost Maine, and Hair. She is a graduate of the musical theater program at The Boston Conservatory and a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

The Tortoise and the Hare will be performed in concert at Curtain Call on Monday, December 5, at 7:30 pm in the Kweskin Theater, with a champagne and dessert reception to follow the performance. All tickets are $15.00. For reservations or more information, you can call Curtain Call at 203-461-6358 x 13 or pay a visit to www.curtaincallinc.com. Curtain Call, Inc., is located at 1349 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT.
