Dinner Theater Features Eugene O’Neill’s Ile; Maritime Mystery Offers Interactive Family Fun

Dinner theater and a Maritime Mystery “whodunit” will debut at Mystic Seaport this summer. “These new programs were developed based on the success of our other evening performances,” said Jonathan Shay director of interpretation and exhibits. “Mystic Seaport is a terrific stage for theater of all kinds. We believe visitors will be drawn to these new programs in much the same manner they have been attracted to both our Lantern Light Tours and Nautical Nightmares.”

Dinner Theater

Mystic Seaport Dinner Theater will be hosted Friday and Sunday evenings through September 6 (excluding July 31 and August 2). Visitors will enjoy a three-course meal outside at Schaefer’s Spouter Tavern overlooking the scenic Mystic River and then sit back and watch as the Mystic Seaport TaleMakers perform Eugene O’Neill’s Ile aboard the L.A. Dunton.
O’Neill’s harrowing one-act play tells the tale of an Arctic whaling captain, his wife and the obsession that threatens all that they hold dear. The recommended viewing age for this event is 15 and older.

Show times are: July 3 - 25 at 7:15 p.m., August 7 - 22 at 6:45 p.m. and August 28 - September 6 at 6:15 p.m.

Tickets are $45 per person ($40 for members) and include dinner, gratuity and the performance. Wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
To purchase tickets, visit www.mysticseaport.org/dinnertheater or call 860.572.5322. Entree selections will be made at time of purchase.

Maritime Mystery

Mystic Seaport presents its first-ever interactive moving mystery tour on Saturday evenings through September 5 (excluding August 1). Visitors will attempt to uncover foul play behind a mysterious plot by gathering evidence, interrogating witnesses and interviewing suspects (played by the Mystic Seaport TaleMakers) throughout the Museum’s 19th-century village. This 70-minute adventure allows the audience to solve the mystery alone or as a part of a group.

Admission times are: July 4 - 25 at 6:30 and 7 p.m., August 8 - 22 at 6 and 6:30 p.m. and August 29 and September 5 at 6 p.m.
Ticket prices are $16 per person for groups of 1-2, $15 for groups of 3-4 and $14 for groups of 5-6.
Maritime Mystery is recommended for older children, teens and adults. To purchase tickets, visit www.mysticseaport.org/maritimemystery or call 860.572.5322.
