Mystic Seaport invites visitors to an evening of 1920s music, food, drink and entertainment at the Museum’s first-ever Rum Runners’ Rendezvous, held Saturday, July 24, from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Hosted the same weekend as the annual Antique & Classic Boat Rendezvous at Mystic Seaport, the evening’s festivities will celebrate the beauty, music and lively ambiance of a bygone era.

Felix and the Cats, a nine-piece band known throughout New York City for their lively Swing and Big Band performances, will play throughout the evening. Guests are encouraged to dress for the occasion in period attire – as a “doll,” flapper,” “real McCoy” or any other 1920s character – and dance the night away under a tent on the Museum’s North Lawn overlooking the historic Mystic River.

The evening’s drink menu will feature a signature Rum Runners’ cocktail, courtesy of Coastal Gourmet, the Museum’s food service provider. Additional libations, beer, wine, hors d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.

Featuring the music of Fletcher Henderson and under the leadership of Westchester County's Felix Endico, Felix and the Cats transports audiences back in time to the New York and Chicago jazz clubs of the 1920s and ‘30s. Their book includes arrangements from the Henderson Brothers, Jimmy Mundy and Sy Oliver, originators of the Big Band sounds of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and Artie Shaw. While their passion is Swing, the band has built a diverse catalog over the years to include Blues, R&B, Latin and Rock. They have charmed audiences at venues such as Wells’ of Harlem, The Rainbow Room and Swing 46, which has claimed Felix and the Cats as their house band over the past 15 years. The band was also featured in the spring 2006 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.

Tickets for the evening are $75 per person and must be purchased by Friday, July 16. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mysticseaport.org/rumrunnersrendezvous or by phone by calling 860.572.5365.

Sponsorship for the evening is provided by Coastal Gourmet and Sperry Tents.
