Whether interacting spontaneously with her audience, delivering lines with her razor-sharp wit and candor or talking it up on her weekly radio show “Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me” on WNPR , Paula Poundstone makes everyone laugh out loud. She’ll make the audience at The Ridgefield Playhouse roar during her performance on Saturday, March 20, at 8 p.m. Paula Poundstone’s show is part of the Benziger Family Winery Theatre Series and includes a one-hour complimentary wine tasting in the Playhouse lobby at 7 p.m. Media Sponsor is i95 - the Home of Rock 'n Roll.

One of the funniest comedians around, Poundstone allows audience members to escape their routines as she infuses a little laughter into their lives. A popular panelist on NPR’s hilarious weekly news quiz show, “Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me” (2008 winner of the prestigious Peabody Award for Broadcasting Excellence), Poundstone’s commentaries can also be accessed on NPR’s “Morning Edition”, the “Huffington Post” and comedy site “23/6.” Her first book, “There’s Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say”, (Random House publishers), is an autobiography that is "part memoir, part monologue" and intertwines historical biographies with anecdotes from her own life. Ms. Poundstone is penning her second book for the same imprint.

She also just released her first comedy CD, “I Heart Jokes: Paula Tells Them in Maine,” which is 60 minutes of hilarious comedy recorded live at the Stone Mountain Arts Center, because as Poundstone says, “It’s very hard to do it any other way.” The star of several solo HBO and Bravo specials, Paula was the first woman to win an ACE Award (the Cable Emmy Award) for Best Standup Comedy Performance and the first woman to be invited to perform at the distinguished White House Correspondents’ dinner attended by the President.

Gold Circle tickets are available at $60 and include a Meet & Greet, purchased only through the box office at (203-438-5795). For tickets ($50 orchestra, $45 mezzanine) and further information about The Ridgefield Playhouse, call or visit the box office at 203-438-5795, 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT, or go online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
