The Westport Arts Center will host an evening filled with laughter, eating, and art on Friday, March 6, from 6 – 8 p.m. “Big Night Out,” an original event created by WAC, will celebrate the joys of dining amongst family and friends with a festive screening of the film “Big Night,” while guests dine on a delicious Italian feast presented by Mario Batali’s Westport-based Tarry Lodge restaurant. Wine will be provided by World Wide Wines.

Director of Visual Arts, Helen Klisser During, reported: “Although we originally scheduled ‘Big Night Out’ during our ‘Foodies’ exhibition this fall, Hurricane Sandy had plans of her own. However, Tarry Lodge and ‘Big Night’ are timeless and an appropriate at any time of the year. The film will be screened in the gallery, amidst our current exhibition, ‘William Wegman: The Traveler,’ which will be a perfect backdrop for a dynamic evening. Tarry Lodge head chef Mario Laposta will be in the gallery, creating and presenting a delicious menu of:

Cocktail Hour (Passed hor'dourves):

Meatballs, Ricotta Crostini & Octopus

Antipasti & Salad:

Assorted Antipasti for Table:

Prosciutto, Salami, Marinated Vegetables and Mozzarella

Tri Colore with White Bean Vinaigrette

1,000 Layer Lasagna

The 1996 film, directed by Campbell Scott and Stanley Tucci, tells the story of a failing Italian restaurant run by two brothers who gamble on one special night to try to save the business. WAC Executive Director, Peter Van Heerden stated, “The food will be amazing and the company great, so come enjoy a cinematic classic while dining on fine Tarry Lodge cuisine and, of course, sipping good wine. Members of our wonderful Board and Staff will join the fun and serve as waiters for the evening.”
