For an evening of jazz, wine and art, no one does it better than The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m.

All the favorite music of the ‘40s -- “Moonlight Serenade”, “A String of Pearls”, “Chattanooga Choo-Choo”, “Pennsylvania 6-5000”, “At Last”, “Tuxedo Junction”, “In The Mood”, “Stardust”, “Sunrise Serenade”, “St. Louis Blues”, “Someone To Watch Over Me”, “Rhapsody in Blue”, “The Nearness of You” -- plus more modern songs performed in the Miller style such as “Over the Rainbow” and “September Morn” will be the set list for the 18-member jazz orchestra, now under the baton of Music Director/vocalist Nick Hilscher.

The enduring songs that are still so popular today and have been covered by numerous famous artists are part of the vast Glenn Miller Orchestra library. A wine & cheese tasting courtesy of No. 109 Cheese & Wine and reception with conceptual artist Gregg Welz, courtesy of Rockwell Art and Framing, will kick off the evening in the lobby from 6:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.

This event is part of the No. 109 Cheese & Wine Art, Wine and Jazz Series and the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series and is partially underwritten by Laurel Ridge Health Care Center. Piccolo’s Pizza & Jazzeria will pour a free glass of house wine with dinner the night of this event when tickets/stubs are presented. For tickets ($38), call the box office at 203-438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
