It’s that time of year again when The Ridgefield Playhouse enjoys giving back to the community that supports it by offering a summertime family event. On Saturday, August 11, First Niagara Bank Foundation (108 Danbury Road, Ridgefield) will present?Hudson Valley Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet”, on the Green under a tent, and a Green Expo sponsored by Green-Seal Insulation, Inc. The Green Expo runs from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with the performance following (2 p.m.).
At the Green Expo, local businesses and services will provide information and samples about how to live “greener”, and local merchants and eateries will provide refreshments and entertainment for kids. This event is underwritten by Altria Group, Events Party and Tent Rentals, The O'Connell Family, Ann & Steve Carlson, Scott Schneider, Gary Smith, Trish Breed, Jason Camillos & Melissa Glen, Margaret & Benton Delinger, Dave & Kathy Lyons, with the following Community Sponsors: Country Brothers Emporium, Discount Power, Easy Care Solutions, Events Party and Tent Rentals, Enchanted Garden, Honeydrop, Morris Media, Nature's Temptations, Pepsi, Piccolo Pizza & Jazzeria, Ridgefield Bicycle Company, Simpaug Farms CSA, Stanziato’s Wood Fired Pizza and Whistle Stop Bakery, B+ Positive and Ridgefield Organics Specialty Market which will serve fruit kabobs and other healthful snacks.
“Romeo & Juliet” is about love, lust and revenge. In a modern take on a classic love story, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, a critically acclaimed regional theater, eliminates the heavy language and over-dramatization of Shakespeare performances, making it the perfect show for all ages. HVSF is the region’s only professional resident Shakespeare Company, based in Garrison, New York’s Boscobel estate.
The Green Expo will feature local “green” goods and services plus tastings from area restaurants. Piccolo Pizza & Jazzeria will be serving homemade gelato; Enchanted Garden will be doing face painting; Nature’s Temptations will serve tastings from their catering menus; Ridgefield Bicycle will offer “green” transportation tips, and Easy Care Solutions will give professional advice on living green.
