S.H.O.P (Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity) is proud to announce the first annual "Choose Love" Outdoor Summer Concert Series to be performed in downtown Sandy Hook Village along the magnificent Pootatuck River every Saturday afternoon from 1-3 p.m. beginning August 16th and ending September 16th. Each Saturday event will include a free, outdoor seated musical performance and tents with free arts, crafts and creative movement opportunities for the kids with musical performances and chairs provided.

“This is an exciting time for evolution and exploration in Sandy Hook Village”, say S.H.O.P Coordinator Melissa Lopata, “and S.H.O.P. is excited to be a part of this initiative, bringing on musician & artist supporters willing to donate their time and talent, as well as sponsors who are excited about making a difference in the Sandy Hook community.”

As a family-friendly event, visitors to the Sandy Hook Summer Concert Series will enjoy the sounds of summer while strolling through this quaint pedestrian-oriented Newtown village. “We invite one and all to come and celebrating the abundance of love and vitality of Sandy Hook’s unique historic heritage and beautiful natural setting”, Lopata added. Stop in any one of the lovely shops, dine in one of the tantalizing restaurants or have a seat in a comfy (provided) chair by the riverside and simply enjoy the music and festive atmosphere as the performers take the stage. The concert series will take place in the Village Green at 5 Glen Road in Sandy Hook Village behind the Village Perk Cafe (at 3 Glen Road). This area has a river walk path that overlooks the beautiful Pootatuck River that runs through the village.

“SHOP is hoping that the "Choose Love" concert series will become an annual event, enhancing the new Arts & Culture scene in beautiful Sandy Hook Village!” says Lopata. “What better way to bring happiness and creativity to Sandy Hook then to implement a creative and fun project like a summer concert series that will help transform this tightly knit, loving community into a lively, beautiful, and sustainable place with the arts, and old-fashioned family-fun at its core”.

WEBE 108 Radio is one of the sponsors of the event. The radio station will be promoting the entire concert series, as well as, doing a special promotional push leading up to the big Sept 6th concert of the Beatles tribute band “Ticket To Ride”.
