L-R, Scrapomatic's Mike Mattison and Paul Olsen will open for Gregg Allman at The Ridgefield Playhouse on January 12 and 13
Mike Mattison and Paul Olsen aren't just two talented friends who like playing together as the duo "Scrapomatic," they are also two talented songwriters and singers - one (Mattison) who happens to be the lead singer of the Derek Trucks band and the other (Olsen) who happens to be an ASCAP award-winning song writer. So when the two open for Gregg Allman at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 12 and 13, they'll be making an already great show even better!

The legendary rocker Gregg Allman is both a founding member of one of the biggest and most important American bands of all time, the still-active and thriving Allman Brothers Band, and a critically acclaimed solo talent, who currently records and tours with Gregg Allman and Friends. The concert is sponsored by Route 7 Music. Media Sponsor for January 12 is The Fox - 95.9fm; for January 13, i95 - 95.1fm.

Everyone knows the songs of the Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman- from his solo hits "I'm No Angel" to the ones he made famous with his brothers such as "Midnight Rider." But this night audiences will not only get to hear those great hits - but some new ones when they see the show before the show with Scrapomatic. "We always try to get opening acts that add something to the show so that audiences can walk out feeling like they've seen something familiar and learned about someone new," says Ridgefield Playhouse Executive Director Allison Stockel. "Scrapomatic will do just that with the new material as well as songs from their latest album, 'Sidewalk Caesars.'"

A natural artist gifted with a beautifully soulful and distinctive voice as well as brilliant keyboard and guitar expertise, Allman is a legendary performer who, more than 30 years down the road, still loves making music as much as ever.

In 1987 Gregg released his second gold album "I'm No Angel," which generated a #1 album radio hit with the unforgettable title track, a self-meditation on Allman's often bad-boy ways. After that hit's follow-up, 1988's "After the Bullets Fly," Allman directed his energy to the reformation of the ABB. That effort resulted in multiple Grammy Award nominations and ABB's induction into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

In 1997 Allman released "Searching for Simplicity," the album he feels represents some of his very best work. "I really took my time with that one," said Allman. "It took me three years just to write songs and gather the material. I put the record together in a manner so that each tune knocked my socks off."

Having searched for blissful simplicity in life as in art, Gregg Allman now lives peacefully in Georgia with his wife, his dogs, a new home studio and several "cherry" Harley Davidson motorcycles.

The concerts feature an AllShows.com VIP Party Pass -which includes a pre- show cocktail party catered by Ancona's, open bar, priority parking, VIP seating and meet and greet with the artist when available! Call the Box Office for more information.
