Norwalk, CT - Calling all surfers, rock climbers and Kung Foo fighters! This January, get your heart pumping and a healthy attitude soaring with Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action™, an exhibit designed to rediscover the fun in being physically active in a non-competitive environment at Stepping Stones. In Run! Jump! Fly! children will explore activities such as kung fu, surfing, snowboarding, yoga and horizontal climbing. The primary goal of the exhibit is to get kids into action by playing and doing things they like to do.

Featuring the theme of action adventures popular in children’s books and movies, the exhibition invites visitors to jump into “Action Star Training” by playing activities that build strength, coordination, balance and endurance.

“Children’s health and physical fitness has become a critical topic today,” said Rhonda Kiest, executive director at Stepping Stones. “Run! Jump! Fly! fits in perfectly with our current exhibits. Stepping Stones is designed to keep kids energized and engaged with healthy messages that can lead them to make healthy life choices.”

Run! Jump! Fly! encourages visitors to try activities they may have never before encountered and to revisit familiar activities in new ways. Cultural spotlights and real-life stories of young people and families who are passionate about a particular activity are designed to deepen visitors’ motivation to get into action. As visitors move through the exhibit and have fun with physical activity, they will get ideas for how they can become more active daily.

Throughout the exhibit, kids and accompanying adults stamp the activities they tried on Action Trackers. Visitors can also take home a 3-Day Mission Action Tracker – activity logs that encourage people to get physically active for a total of 60 minutes a day.

The exhibit is aimed primarily at children ages 5-12, while children 2-5 will also be able to join in the fun of many of the activities. Additionally, Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action developers worked to make the exhibit activities accessible to visitors with varying physical abilities and developmental needs.

Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action™ was created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum and will remain at Stepping Stones through April 29, 2012.
