STAMFORD, CT - Two authors will discuss their works focusing on life in their adoptive country on Wednesday, January 29 at 6 p.m. in the Ferguson Library’s Third Floor Auditorium, Bedford & Broad Streets, Stamford.
Lara Vapnyar, author of The Scent of Pine, will discuss this poignant love story centering on Lena, a 38-year-old Russian immigrant who is struggling with a mid-life crisis in her adoptive country when she meets Ben and reveals long-held secrets about her past working in a Soviet summer camp.
Okey Ndibe, author of Foreign Gods, Inc., will discuss his story of Ike, a New York-based Nigerian cab driver who sets out to steal the statue of an ancient war deity from his home village and sell it to a New York gallery. The book is a meditation on the dreams, promises and frustrations of the immigrant life in America.
