CONNECTICUT, CT - The Salvation Army’s Amsterdam Staff Band is set to perform on April 20that 12:30 p.m. at the UCONN Hartford Atrium on Prospect Street in Hartford, CT. Later that night, at 7:00 p.m., they will perform at The Salvation Army Manchester Citadel located at 661 Main Street, Manchester, CT. The Amsterdam Staff Band (ASB) is the premier brass band of the Salvation Army in the Netherlands and was founded in 1962. The band consists of top musicians from all over the country, all of them active in a local Salvation Army Corps (church). All members, in their personal faith in God, fulfill their musicality.
The repertoire of the ASB thus contains a message based on the gospel of Jesus Christ and His love for this world. Every Tuesday there is a rehearsal and on a weekly basis, ASB travels throughout the country to host concerts at various Salvation Army locations.
The band regularly arranges tours abroad, including countries such as Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Canada and the United States. The band also makes many recordings, appears often in radio and television broadcasts, and performs regularly at such important brass band events as the annual Premier Brass concerts, in which it plays alongside top bands such as European champion Brass Band Schoonhoven.
The ASB is currently led by conductor Olaf Ritman and works hard to maximize the standard of communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music. For more information about The Amsterdam Staff Band visit: www.amsterdam-staffband.nl
