The Wallflowers’ platinum 1996 release, “Bringing Down the Horse,” had the hits “6th Avenue Heartache” and “One Headlight,” the latter of which brought the group two Grammy Awards—one for Best Rock performance by a Group and the other to its songwriter, Jakob Dylan, who leads the group. The Wallflowers are coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, August 16 at 8 p.m. The Peak 107.1 fm is the media sponsor.

An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass,  which includes a cocktail party, food and priority parking, plus an artist meet and greet when available an hour prior to the event (for an additional fee), is available for this show.

Though Jakob Dylan is the son of Bob Dylan, his music taste runs more to that of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and The Clash. As Jakob said of The Clash, “They had something I could listen to that I wanted to associate.”

Following “Bringing Down the Horse,” the group released “Breach” with the single, “Sleepwalker,” the video of which poked fun at Jakob’s rock star status following the success of the former album. “Hand Me Down,” also on that album, was one of the most talked about songs on the album, as many thought it a direct statement to being Bob Dylan’s son.

For tickets ($65) and further information about The Ridgefield Playhouse, call the box office at 203-438-5795; tickets may be also purchased online at www.ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Playhouse is located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street.
