STAMFORD, CT - THE DROWSY CHAPERONE comes to life on stage at the Trinity Catholic High School auditorium in Stamford, CT for a limited run.
A rare combination of unprecedented originality and blinding talent, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE addresses an unspoken desire in all of our hearts: to be entertained. If you ever sat in a theater waiting for the curtains to rise and thinking, "Please let this show be good," then this is the show for you!
THE DROWSY CHAPERONE is a parody of American musical comedy of the 1920s. The story begins when a die-hard musical theater fan plays his favorite cast album, the (fictional) 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone on his turntable, and the show literally bursts to life in his living room, telling the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet trying to find, and keep her true love. THE DROWSY CHAPERONE with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, with book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, opened on Broadway in 2006. The show won the Tony Award for Best Book and Best Score.
“This show is great fun to watch and perform. It is designed simply for entertainment, and that it certainly does,” says the show’s director, Brian Bianco. “Selecting a production for our school’s fall performance was quite easy this year,” shares Michele Schule, the show’s producer, “Brian and I knew instantly that this was the perfect show for our school to perform and would be fun for everyone.”
